May is Mental Health Awareness Month

This started in 1949 to increase the importance of mental health and wellness, and to celebrate people’s recovery from various mental struggles.

Nearly one in five adults in the U.S. face mental health issues, and it is important for all of us to prioritize our own mental health.

Helpful Mental Wellness Tips

  1. Deep Breathing
    If you feel stressed or tired, take a deep breath and look up at the sky. Deep breathing provides oxygen to the brain and muscles which helps your body and mind stay healthy.
  2. Honor Your Body
    Movement - exercise, walking, or stretching can help burn through anxiety. 
    Get enough sleep - try to go to bed earlier if you can. 
    Take time to meditate or relax yourself. You can try listening to ASMR, taking a bath, yoga, etc.
  3. Give Yourself a Treat
    Figure out what you like to do and reduce stress! 
    Plan a treat day to do what you like or eat something you like.
  4. Take Space from Scrolling
    Try not to use your phone just before bedtime.
    Set a limit for social media or texting.
  5. Talk to Someone
    It can be a friend, family member, or therapist.
