Volunteering with Tubman is a unique and rewarding experience. There are many opportunities within our various service areas, and most positions can work as internships for school, depending on requirements.

  • Maplewood
    ----------------------------
    Assist weekend shelter staff with portioning and delivering meals to residents at our Maplewood shelter. Perfect for people working full-time during the week!

  • Minneapolis
    ---------------------------
    The Administrative Assistant Volunteer is responsible for working within the Clinical Services team, assisting with office projects including data entry, filing, tracking records requests, and assembling materials and packets.

    The Civil Legal Advocate Intern or Volunteer works with victims/survivors of domestic violence by responding to client calls requesting legal assistance, including writing and filing Orders for Protection (OFP). The Intern/Volunteer assists staff with maintaining the client database and may also support clients at OFP hearings in Washington County Court (on Zoom or at the courthouse).

    The Criminal Legal Advocate is responsible for attending in-custody arraignments in either the Stillwater or suburban Ramsey County areas, and relays information about criminal domestic assault cases to the clients involved.

    The Family Law Intern assists Tubman’s legal department with projects such as drafting client correspondence and court documents, screening prospective legal clients, and administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and research.

    Volunteer Receptionists serve as the first point of contact to Tubman, providing effective customer service to individuals seeking services or other connections to Tubman. The position includes responding to people in-person, by phone, and via email.

  • Starlight Soirée Auction Committee Member

    Remote opportunity

    Do you feel at ease speaking with people about something you care about? Don’t have a lot of time to do traditional volunteering? Consider volunteering at part of Tubman’s Starlight Soirée Auction Committee! The Starlight Soirée is Tubman’s annual gala to honor survivors’ journeys from fear to freedom and to celebrate the generous donors who support our mission. Auction Committee members are asked to leverage personal and/or professional networks to generate event support through financial or in-kind contributions which include auction items, gift cards, wine, and growlers. Starlight Soirée Auction Committee members are also encouraged to strategize with Tubman staff to help engage potential event sponsors.

    We are looking for passionate committee members to help us create an amazing event. The 2024 Starlight Soirée will be held on Friday, May 3, 2023. This position is independent with monthly Committee meetings. All Committee Meetings will be held virtually, unless otherwise directed.

    Volunteer will be responsible for transporting residents safely and promptly from Tubman East in Maplewood to appointments and errands. Must be at least 21 years old.

    Create content for Tubman’s Movement for Violence Prevention (MVP) social media pages and youth website. Youth voices matter, and we want to hear yours! Work collaboratively with our youth team to create informational, inspirational, and transformative content that makes an impact. MVP content is created for and by youth.

    As part of Tubman’s Movement for Violence Prevention (MVP) team, the Youth Educator Intern connects with students through education and youth leadership activities. Interns present our violence prevention curriculum in middle and high schools, facilitate leadership groups, and provide tools to youth that support peer education and other related projects. Youth Education interns also provide individual advocacy and support.

    **This position is based out of Tubman Chrysalis Center in Minneapolis and includes travel around the Twin Cities Metro. This position requires a valid driver's license, car insurance, and reliable access to a vehicle.**

  • The Administrative Assistant is responsible for working within the Intern & Volunteer Services Department, assisting with administrative projects including data entry, filing and tracking paperwork and other information, and contacting references.
